Section 104.1.1 is added to Chapter 1 of the Fire Code to read as follows:

104.1.1 Police powers. The fire code official and his authorized deputies shall have the powers of police officers in performing their duties under this code. When requested to do so by the fire code official, the chief of police of the jurisdiction is authorized to assign such available police officers as necessary to assist the fire code official in enforcing the provisions of this code.
