Upon adoption by the city council of a resolution designating a residential parking permit area, the department of public works shall cause appropriate signs to be erected, indicating prominently thereon the parking limitation(s), period(s) of the day for its application and the fact that motor vehicles with valid permits shall be exempt therefrom.
